Words cannot even begin to express what an amazing trip this was. Trent and I fell in love with the people of Thailand and we already can’t wait to get back. The first part of our trip was spent in the northern forested area of Thailand. Our Airbnb was absolutely breathtaking and we couldn’t wait to go exploring. Our first day there we rented a motorcycle and headed out of the city to what is called Mae Rim. Renting a motorcycle is the way to see Thailand! It cost us 800 baht per day which is around $20. It gave us the freedom to explore without worrying too much about parking. We didn’t have any data to use our phones to navigate so we relied fully on a map, haha. I’m actually pretty impressed with how we got around! If we can do it, so could you! Mae Rim is a big loop outside of Chiang Mai full of things to do. We saw a cobra show, passed multiple little shops and fruit stands, hiked Mae Sa waterfall, walked through little villages and ate the most delicious food. The road was forested wound through the mountains. It felt like we were in a completely different world. This is a great day trip to take outside of Chiang Mai. It took us most of the day to do and we only covered about half of the loop. There are so many things to see and experience.

Our second day in Chiang Mai we found an LDS church to attend. It is amazing to know that no matter where you are in the world you can always find a little piece of home. The saints in Thailand are the sweetest people and it was a great experience. We rode a little Tuk Tuk to church, which is like a little cart attached to a motorcycle. It was hilarious. Those drivers navigate the streets like nobody else can and we went so fast! It was wild!
Our next adventure took us to Chiang Mai’s grand canyon. It’s located just a couple miles south of the inner city. It is definitely a tourist attraction but we had fun. There were cliffs to jump off, a zip line and other places to relax. We met people from all over the world and it was fun to see that side of Chiang Mai.

The last day in Chiang Mai we rode Elephants but that deserves its own post (Coming soon). We loved our stay here and can’t wait to go back. One of my favorite parts of the trip was all the Airbnb homes we stayed in. Our place in Chiang Mai was right near the University. It was quiet, the pool was beautiful and it was also right near the base of the mountain which was gorgeous to wake up to in the mornings. The security guards would salute us every time we rode past them and Trent thought they were the coolest! I miss this place already.
