Turks and Caicos

Life has been crazy around here but I finally got around to blogging about our Turks and Caicos trip…thanks to a sick Saturday spent on the couch. Every picture I look at makes me want to go back so it’s probably a good thing it has taken me this long…I’m definitely ready for summer.

We were invited to go on this trip by Trent’s sister and brother-in-law and boy are we glad that we said yes. It was AMAZING! The water was perfect, the weather was perfect, everything about this place is prefect. I don’t know if it was the time of year we went but there were very little bugs and I think I saw one mosquito. The food was amazing and I could definitely live the island life.

We spent most of our time surfing with Wake to Wake and it was a blast. Working with Nat and Mark was amazing and we would definitely go back just to hang out with them. They offer prime wake surfing along with all other boating accommodations and sometimes their dolphin friend will tag along! You can wakeboard, ski, tube or simply have them take you to different islands near Turks and Caicos. Nat and Mark are both great teachers and they make you feel like family. If you are ever in Turks and Caicos, a day with Wake to Wake is definitely a must!

Trent’s brother-in-law, Colby, has a company called Brigade Wakesurfing who specialize in state of the art surf boards. Wake to wake works with Brigade to give surfers the best quality of boards. It was so much fun to ride their different boards and try all of them out! The company also brought two pro surfers, Jake Caster and Cole Sorensen, to surf the boards. They were amazing! It was incredible to see the different tricks they could do on a surfboard and how easy they made it look. We were all so impressed!

Even us amateurs had some serious fun! Trent’s sister, Dean, is getting REALLY good! I was trying to learn from her! Surfing is such a fun thing to do while boating. Not a lot of high stress because you’re not going too fast but you can still do lots of neat tricks and moves.

I’m definitely still an newbie when it comes to surfing but Trent and I accomplished a major trick on this trip. We were pretty darn proud of ourselves 😉

On the trip, we visited smaller islands, jumped off a shipwreck, night surfed and did so many other amazing things. It felt so good to relax on a boat, soak up some rays and recuperate from this crazy thing called life. It was truly an unforgettable trip and I can’t wait to go back!

Birthday Adventures

elizaphoto (70 of 94)

Sometimes I’m a little reluctant to join Trent on his adventures. I worry about all the things I probably should be doing or I get a little nervous because I’m just not as brave as he is. Trent sometimes has to really talk me into these things. However, I am always so grateful that I went once we’ve gone. I love the car rides traveling to and from our destination, I love the wonderful conversations Trent and I have, I love the gorgeous views we stumble across and I simply love being with Trent. Every adventure we go on brings us closer and closer together and I couldn’t be more grateful.

This Saturday we went and explored Guardsman Pass up Big Cottonwood Canyon. The snow really hasn’t been great this year but we’re trying to make the most of it. We explored the trails, found big clearings to play in and had so much fun! There are so many gorgeous cabins up there and the scenery was spectacular.

I’m not very good on a snowmobile but I’ve loved learning more and more with Trent as we go more often. He is incredible on those things and they mostly scare me to death. It’s fun to have a way to travel to unknown spots in the mountains and explore places no one else has been. I’m hoping for one more big snow storm this year so that we can go at least a couple more times before the season is over.

It was Trent’s birthday on Friday and this adventure was part of the celebratory weekend. I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful husband who is always finding the fun and the good in life!

Winter Wonderland

Hello friends! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA. Things tend to get a little crazy over here and then when I get a spare minute, all I want to do is spend time with T. With my teaching job I get a little over a week off of work for Christmas break and it has been nothing short of magical. Trent and I have spent our days playing with family, catching up on much needed sleep/staying up way too late watching movies, going on adventures and simply enjoying each other. I have a feeling that going back to school is not going to be very pretty…

Our Christmas was spent bouncing back and forth between families and eating a lot of food. We feel so blessed to have both our families so close and we’re soaking up every minute we can with them.

Yesterday we went and saw The Greatest Showman with my family. It was the second time Trent and I had seen it and we can easily say that we are OBSESSED. Trent and I will blast the soundtrack in the car, sing it as we walk down the street and we’re determined to learn some of the dances. It is such an amazing, uplifting movie, and we HIGHLY recommend everyone go see it. It is definitely worth your time.

After the movie, Trent took me on a short snowmobile ride up Big Cottonwood Canyon and it was a blast! We rode together and explored the beautiful canyon. There is something truly magical about snow covered pines and fresh powder. Utah hasn’t received as much snow as it usually does (which is a definite bummer) but we were lucky enough to find some!

My toes eventually froze (anyone have suggestions for really good snow boots?) and then we drove home to a lazy, perfect night. It was such a fun day and I feel so lucky to be married to Trent.  Life truly is a marvelous adventure.

Hope everyone is having  a safe and happy Holiday season!

Summer

Summer is here! Hooray! There is nothing I love more than being able to be outside on warm summer nights. It brings a whole new meaning to the word happy. This summer is a crazy one filled with summer school, working, trips, family events and so much more. It’s going to go by much faster than I would like so I’m soaking up every minute I can. Trent and I have been able to go up Big Cottonwood canyon and do some climbing with his family and it’s been wonderful to sit in the gorgeous canyon and enjoy Utah. Don’t get me wrong, I love climbing, but I’m still getting used to being up so high and the feeling of imminent death…so, this last time we went climbing I just watched. It was so much fun to hang out with Trent and his brother and watch all the other climbers going up and down. Climbing is an art and I feel like I gain a greater appreciation for it every time I’m around it. The night was perfect and I felt so blessed to be surrounded by such beauty.

Trent and I are gearing up to move this week and although there are a lot of decisions to make and it can be a bit stressful, I’m so grateful I’m going through it all with him. We’ve been married for almost a year now and I can’t believe how fast time has gone by. It’s amazing to look back and think of all the things we done, all the bumps in the road we’ve worked through, and all the wonderful, joyous times we’ve experienced together. Everyday isn’t perfect but I’m grateful that I have someone that will never give up on me. I love you T.

Here’s to a summer full of warm nights, numerous adventures, and memories in the making.
